Summer program in Iceland 2017,
July 2 – July 22 (21 days)
Transformational and Powerful. Iceland awaits you…
Journey with us as we delve into the cross section of art, science, and nature in the land of fire and ice. This summer you will be part of an art residency, working with professionals discovering a country that transformed from a UN developing nation to a world leader in sustainable energy.
Based on our principles of experiential education, arts immersion and living close to nature you will be more than a tourist you will be an explorer, an artist in residence and a citizen of the world.
Together, we will create a short film studying Iceland’s sustainability practices. Through the lens of the filmmaker, we will explore hot springs, waterfalls and glaciers on an artistic journey answering some of the planet’s most pressing issues.
Our program in South Iceland is situated in the town of Hveragerði, world capital of hot springs, famous for its geothermal hot river where people bathe year round. Our network of local artists and filmmakers is immense and we will partner with the professionals to learn hands on, and interview professionals in the field.
To travel with the Barat Foundation is profoundly different than traveling with other programs. We are leaders in experiential education and students are fostered in a nurturing environment encouraged to find their voice and learn important communication and media making skills. We believe that our students are the leaders of tomorrow and our programs are geared towards their creative evolution and personal empowerment.
